To use or not to use.....
In reports across the board images can make a dull and boring presentation vibrant and exciting however just because you need to spice up your presentation does not give you permission to use just any image you find on the web. It would seem images one can find online should be open to the public but in fact using a copy written image can get you in serious trouble. There are a couple of avenues to follow if you need to use images they are;

THE EYE-OPENING WORLD OF THE SLIDECAST
November 5, 2015
Tonight I enter the world of slidecasts. I am very familiar with Powerpoint presentations from years
of presentations through school but I have never done a stand alone slidecast. In order to understand what a good presentation will look like I accessed the following and found this fabulous presentation.
of presentations through school but I have never done a stand alone slidecast. In order to understand what a good presentation will look like I accessed the following and found this fabulous presentation.
As I went through the slides I kept in mind the criteria for a good slidecast as laid out by Dr. Cummings in the current assignment and found this presentation to have all the most important aspects necessary for a good slidecast. The first thing I noticed were the colors, very muted around the main points of each slide and the main points were in red. There was one simple point to each slide and the text to be focused on was primary on each slide. The structure was very good, it flowed very well and each slide caught my attention. The subject matter was all relevant to the presentation and although I was not the target audience for this particular slidecast I was very much interested in it. The fact that this slidecast drew me in shows how the creators of the slides thought about how an audience, not just those it was meant for, would react to the slides. As I watched the slidecast. I was thinking about how I could incorporate the main points I was reading into my upcoming assignment. The ideas and points in this particular presentation can be used for any presentation and I was very impressed that although the slidecast was geared towards presenting to investors that the ideas would most certainly work for my presentation as well.

In our class we were asked to create a slide. This is my attempt. I took four of the basic principles of our client Nest Realty, added some images to identify my thoughts of each principle and what I believe to be a soothing background. I'm not sure if it is too busy but I wanted to be sure to have an image for each principle. I believe the images promote pathos because there is no actual speaking but the images that correspond with the words create thoughts in the people looking at the slide.

Non- Profit Profitability
For my research question I have decided to dissect my favorite nonprofit charity, The American Leprosy Mission and figure out if the practice of using social media to fundraise and increase awareness of leprosy seems to help them. Based on published data such as that the website shows and other information like the charity review site give.org publishes, Articles published by Nonprofit Management and Leadership and The Public Administration Review will shed light on whether the practice is working over a period of time. My primary source will be the web site itself as it holds the key to how the charity makes itself known and in this case publishes anything for anyone to see, they hold nothing back. My secondary sources will come from published articles by different reviews, this secondary information will not be as specific as my primary source and may or may not support how effective the practices of the charity really are. I believe not only the data from the site itself but also published data on nonprofits in general will relate in a non specific way. The site will provide me with specific data and the secondary sources will provide me with industry standards. This will allow me to figure out if the charity is utilizing social media to its full potential I believe the audience most interested in this type of paper would be not only the charity itself but any charity who wishes to make the most of social media.

Social
Media Analysis
One of the most important parts of
any type of communication is the effectiveness of the message. Businesses have
a unique chance in this day and age of social media to connect with more
customers than ever before. Social media can be used to promote products,
connect with customers, get feedback and sometimes even say negative things
about their competition. Positive messages are put out by companies to certain
demographics based on what they are trying to sell and to whom. Smart
businesses do research to decide the best course of action when it comes to
advertising. Businesses rely on persuasion to sell products and to gain
customers. This practice can be either obvious or subconscious but either way
any type of persuasion has to have three basic elements. Ethos builds
credibility, logos constructs a logical argument and pathos appeals to emotion.

It
is not surprising an ad like this is on social media based on the climate e
live in today, sex sells and even if one
does not agree with the ad looking at it from an analytic standpoint it is
brilliant. These two ads show a positive and a negative depiction of food. One
puts a good feeling to the ad and the other obviously is more seductive and
negative. The two ads cater to different types of people and as in any ad put
on social media different types of consumers will respond to either ad.
