Purpose

   My name is Missy and I am a student at the University of  North Carolina, Wilmington. I am majoring in Political Science. I am currently in an intense English class this semester that focuses on business writing. I have created this blog as not only an assignment but to broaden my writing horizons and learn more about how to communicate better in the workplace. This class will also allow me to step outside my social media comfort zone and help me to learn more about the online world I have never used before. 
  In doing this project I will be analyzing a local real estate company in town. I hope to be able to advise them on ways they can improve their connection to the public both local and worldwide. I believe the best way to do this is to improve their the rhetoric within their social media platform. At present they have a vary powerful online presence so critiquing and advising this well established brokerage will prove difficult.
   I believe this project as well as the class will test all my organization, collaboration and Internet skills. I am sure I will come out more  savvy in regards to the Internet and the business tools it provides.
   This class will allow me to work with a group made up of my class mates which in the particular situation will be a challenge as I am a distance learning student who does not live in Wilmington. The challenges for me will be vast but I hope to be able to overcome the challenges. One of the biggest challenges is at the center of the class that is to use rhetoric properly in a social network setting. The three main thing I hope to improve upon are to analyze, compose and evaluate. These concepts are part of the core of this class and I hope to improve my skills in these areas.
   I look forward to the improvement in my skills as the class progresses.
